The Indian Premier League has been given a 2.5-month extension by the International Cricket Council under the ICC Future Tours Program (FTP). FTP provides information on the 12 Full Members’ international cricket schedule for the 2023–2027 cycle.
The money-making franchise cricket boosted its squad size from eight to ten last year, raising the total number of matches to 74, according to the statistics.
There will be a total of 84 games played in franchise-based cricket during the forthcoming 2025 and 2026 seasons. That number could increase to 94 in the 2027 season, although the next event will consist of 74 matches.
In order to allow English players to take part in the Hundred, the International Cricket Council also agreed to a three-week suspension of international play in July and August.
Players like Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Jos Buttler were unable to participate in the inaugural edition of the white-ball competition due to national obligations.
Similar to how the CPL and BPL made place for their leagues, Cricket Australia avoided scheduling any white-ball international matches in January so that its players could participate in the Big Bash League.
The International Cricket Council also gave CSA a free pass to begin its franchise T20 league in January 2025 and January 2026, and it even withdrew from the Australian white-ball series.
